Sluggin’ with Steven O’Neil featuring Holden Albright

The following interview is part of an exclusive interview series courtesy of CWN Contributor Steven O’Neil. Steven has been a fan of Pro-Wrestling for the past 30+ years and on top of his love for the business, he has also lent his voice to several podcasts over the past year.

What do you do in your spare time when you aren’t wrestling, or training?
In my spare time I enjoy being creative and that’s by doing podcasts or writing and planning for the future or buying random action figures.

What is your favourite wrestling themed podcast or YouTube channel?
My favourite wrestling podcasts are the POST Wrestling crew (I get such honest opinions & real updates that it keeps me up to date) & the Ad Free Shows network, it’s just so informative & interesting.

What was the moment that made you decide to pursue wrestling as a career?
IĀ was supposed to go on a trip and people bailed so with the saved money I decided to finally live my dream and start training.

How do your friends/family feel about your wrestling?
My friends are supportive & think it’s cool. I believe my family is proud of me, but to be honest they hate the time I spend away.

How do you balance family/relationships while pursuing your wrestling career?
I didn’t have a relationship during my time in wrestling because I had no time & that’s a personal issue that I need and hope to overcome when life goes back to normal.

What does a typical training day look like for you?
I work about 2-10am then I would nap or work on editing whatever. Then go to Kitchener or Hamilton to do training around 6 then around 11 more work & maybe a nap before my regular job.

What does the diet of a pro-wrestler look like?
I’m the worst person to ask about diet but I try to eat as low carb clean as I can but I fall off that train A LOT!

What do you think is a common misconception about wrestling that people have?
I think a misconception is that the talent have more control over the direction of the story than they do.

If you had to wear a WARNING label, what would it say?
Aggressively passionate.

In an alternate universe where wrestling doesn’t exist – what are you doing instead?
IĀ don’t think I’m an alternative but after I’m done wrestling before 40 I’ll be doing stand up & live entertainment for a living.
